BizMOOC (“Knowledge Alliance to enable a European-wide exploitation of the potential of MOOCs for the world of business”)
About the project
BizMOOC addressed the challenge for Europe to enable companies, the workforce and universities to scale up their activities and harness the potential of MOOCs – open online courses aimed at the general public. It focused on training the workforce and universities and acquiring key competences for the labour market through the application of new methodologies for online teaching and learning.
This goal was achieved by creating common standards & frameworks in MOOCs by integrating experiences from higher education and the business world.
Key aspects of the project:
- 11 full partners, 3 associate partners, 11 countries from universities and industry (large companies and SMEs), NGOs, networks, cluster
- the establishment of a common MOOC “body of knowledge”
- identifying needs, gaps and reasons for businesses, workforce and universities to increase their MOOC activity
- Establishment of guidelines, recommendations & good practice in an interactive and freely accessible MOOC book
- Creation, implementation and evaluation of open educational resources in the form of 3 pilot MOOCs focusing on lifelong learning and the key competences of entrepreneurship “Learning to learn (through MOOCs)”, “Initiative (entrepreneurship vs. initiative in entrepreneurship)” and “Innovation, creativity & problem solving” and testing different methods & didactic approaches
- Dissemination, networking, community building and events.
BizMOOC benefits companies, universities, teachers, learners & policy makers thanks to the main outcomes of the MOOC BOOK (business & quality models, methods & tools, IPR strategies, certifications, competency-based education, etc.), the Pilot MOOCs, the BizMOOC community and events.
